Alcatel-Lucent CDMA Mobile Packet Core

The Alcatel-Lucent CDMA Mobile Packet Core network solution is comprised of the Alcatel-Lucent CDMA Mobility Server (CMS) and Alcatel-Lucent 9290 Packet Switch Gateway (PSG). The Alcatel-Lucent CMS consists of two sub-components, the existing Alcatel-Lucent 9290 Mobility Manager (MM) Compact Version 2 (MMC-V2) and the new Alcatel-Lucent 9290 Mobility Manager-Signaling Interface (MM-SI). The Alcatel-Lucent 9290 MM component of the Alcatel-Lucent CMS continues to play the role of the call control server providing the subscriber features, mobility management functions, and the control signaling interfaces to the base stations. The Alcatel-Lucent 9290 MM-SI supports connection control and provides all the network signaling and media gateway control interfaces for the Alcatel-Lucent CMS. The Alcatel-Lucent 9281 PSG is an evolution of the Alcatel-Lucent 9281 Packet Switch (PS) to include an H.248 interface and continues to support many of the same capabilities as the Alcatel-Lucent 9281 PS, including IP backhaul termination of the Radio Access Network (RAN) traffic, frame selection, vocoding/transcoding, IP Soft Handoff (IPSHO), and switching.
